Microvolunteering

Microvolunteering opportunities are quick, one-off ways to support Camp Lilac's goals. They are a great way to engage in meaningful community action, even if you're too busy for a regular commitment.

You can share your participation with us on social media or by contacting us  — complete 5 of the suggestions below and receive a Camp Lilac volunteer sticker!

Pitch Camp Lilac as a charitable cause

Know of a benefit show looking for a charity to support? Part of a faith community that is looking to give back? Suggest Camp Lilac as a cause worth supporting!

Research a grant

Camp Lilac is partially funded by grants, awards given by philanthropic or government agencies to support a particular mission. We're always on the lookout for grants supporting LGBTQ+ youth, outdoor education, accessibility, and more. Know of a grant that we might be eligible for? Let us know!

Contribute a design for our merch store

We are accepting suggestions and art submissions for the Camp Lilac merchandise store! View our current offerings here, or get in touch about making a submission.

Ask a local business for a donation

Brainstorm businesses that might want to support Camp Lilac, monetarily or with a donation of supplies. Send us your list, or approach them yourself!

See what supplies we accept.

Clean our your garage and donate old sports equipment and games

We accept donations of sports gears, such as bats, bases, and balls of all kinds. Learn more about donating supplies.

Clean out your closet and donate old clothes

Give your old prom dress a new home! Our community closet (generously supported by Mozaic) helps put gender-affirming clothes into the hands of trans teens.

Request COVID tests from your local mask bloc or health department.

We require all attendees test for COVID in the days leading up to arrival. Some community organizations offer free tests to those who ask - consider asking on our behalf!

Research your state's current political issues and send an advocacy letter

Across the country, states are introducing bills that limit trans healthcare and life participation, especially for trans youth. Learn more about your state's current legislation here.

Write a thank you message for our volunteers

Our camp counselors generously volunteer dozens of hours of their time and labor to make Camp Lilac possible. Write a message, and we'll pass it along to our summer staff!

Send us a message with the subject "Staff Thank You Message".

Write a welcome message for campers

Messages are included in camper welcome bags. A simple note (e.g., "Have a great time at camp!") can make a world of difference.

Send us a message with the subject "Camper Welcome Message".

Tell a trans person in your life you love and care about them

Everyone needs a reminder that they have people who support them. With hateful rhetoric and politicization of trans existence on the rise, now is a great time to affirm your support for those in your life.
