Application Steps
Fill out an application
Our application will be available online shortly.
Complete an interview
Meet a staff member to discuss your experience and expectations.
Receive a provisional decision
If accepted, learn next steps, including completing a background check (sent via email - no fingerprinting required) to finalize your acceptance.
Complete all paperwork
This includes health forms, liability waiver, and a photo release.
Complete virtual training
Training is provided on-site, however, we will have a handbook, videos, and other resources to read prior to arrival.

Who can volunteer with Camp Lilac?
Anyone ages 18 or older can apply to volunteer with Camp Lilac. Experience working with youth and/or the transgender/gender diverse community is recommended but not required.

Those who will be ages 17 at the time of camp, or 18 years old and having attended Camp Lilac 2024, are eligible for our Staff-In-Training (SIT) program. 17 year olds can also join us as campers.
When is camp?
Session 1 (including training & clean up) - Friday, July 18th through Sunday, July 27th, 2025
Session 2 (including training & clean up) - Friday, July 25th through Sunday, August 3rd, 2025
Sessions have the same programming, and staff can apply to attend one or both. Partial week opportunities also may be possible for nursing, mental health, or kitchen staff.
Where is camp?
Camp Lilac is held at a campsite in West Central Ohio, located about an hour outside of Columbus. For safety and privacy reasons, the exact location is only shared after a staff member has been accepted to volunteer and completed a background check.

Is there compensation for staff?
Camp Lilac is a volunteer driven organization. All positions, with the exception of kitchen manager, are volunteer. The Staff-In-Training program has an associated tuition cost.
